Civil and family court filings in El Paso County have remained relatively stable during the seven full calendar year period the Texas Office of Court Administration (OCA) started compiling data from district and county clerks in its current form: card.txcourts.gov/default.aspx. These graphs are captured from a website (www.CourtStatPack.com) we created to interactively display that data in easily customizable charts.
New civil filings are up by half over the OCA reporting period and double the low. Family filings are relatively stable.


The composition of the civil docket is largely consumer, civil related to criminal, and tax matters. Divorce with and without children and modifications lead the family docket.


Judgments on jury verdicts are stable in civil cases and up in family matters after several years at zero.


55.8% of judgments on jury verdicts are in motor vehicle and other injury cases. There are not a statistically relevant sample of jury verdicts in family matters.

The summary judgment grant rate has quadrupled in civil cases, much of that recently. Summary judgments in family cases have also increased though that softened in 2017.


More than half of all civil summary judgment dispositions are in the other civil case category.
