Civil and family court filings in Harris County have remained relatively stable during the seven full calendar year period the Texas Office of Court Administration (OCA) started compiling data from district and county clerks in its current form: card.txcourts.gov/default.aspx. These graphs are captured from a website (www.CourtStatPack.com) we created to interactively display that data in easily customizable charts.
New civil and family filings are relatively stable over the OCA reporting period with a slight uptick in civil filings.

The composition of the civil docket is largely consumer, civil related to criminal, and tax matters. Divorce with and without children leads the family docket.

Judgments on jury verdicts have declined slightly in both civil and family actions.

54.9% of judgments on jury verdicts are in motor vehicle and other injury cases with consumer cases accounting for another quarter. Most family verdicts are divorce with and without children.

The summary judgment grant rate has declined in civil cases, but that decline has recovered somewhat recently. Summary judgments in family cases are rare.

More than half of all civil summary judgment dispositions are in debt (consumer) cases.
