New Federal Court in Sherman?

With overloaded dockets fueled by a booming population growth, the Eastern District of Texas’ eight U.S. District Courts are in an official judicial emergency because they have way too many cases and not enough judges to hear them.
That’s why Eastern District government officials, lawyers, industry leaders, government officials and its chief U.S. District judge will meet in Plano for a planning conference on August 4 to strategize about how to bring a ninth judge to the region.
To get that done, an emergency bill will have to be passed by Congress. And while Eastern District judges currently carry a weighted caseload of 1,400—about triple national average caseload—an economic case still has to be made for why they need another judge.
