Ravel Law is known for its open-source database partnership with Harvard Law Library, as well as its judicial analytics and data visualization technology.
On June 8, LexisNexis Legal & Professional announced that it has acquired Ravel Law, the legal research, analytics and visualization platform. Through the acquisition, LexisNexis plans on integrating Ravel Law into its Lexis Litigation Profile Suite and Lexis Advance platforms, offering Ravel’s judicial analytics, data visualization technology and unique case law PDF content from the Harvard Law Library.
After the acquisition, Ravel Law will continue to operate as an entity under LexisNexis out of San Francisco. No financial details of the acquisition have been announced at this time.
In recent years, LexisNexis has focused heavily on expanding its legal analytics capabilities in conjunction with its preexisting research specialty. Notably, the company acquired legal analytics provider Lex Machina in November 2015, and more recently, acquired SEC intelligence provider Intelligize in September 2016.
