Interesting analogies, Don. One difficulty, though, is the perception that he lacks neutrality or investment in particular components of the outcome. Not so different from the difficulty in mediating one’s own divorce, one’s one employment termination, etc. So, the R’s don’t see him as a mediator and many Dem’s need him to “fight.”
