Censio, a Boston startup that has landed investor funding from Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, officially launched Wednesday and announced a partnership with Ohio-based Progressive Insurance.
Led by a team of former executives of Zipcar and LogMeIn, Censio offers a mobile app that acts as a “Fitbit for drivers” and tracks driving habits in order to help drivers stay safe on the road and save money on car insurance.
“Using actual driving behavior to price auto policies allows insurers to be able to distinguish between good driving behavior and bad driving behavior and reward good driving behavior,” said Kevin Farrell, president of Censio, in an interview.
