Taken from PwC’s 2015 annual UK Law Firms 95 percent of firms across the pond are currently investing in major IT projects help their constituents work better. Those findings are consistent with trends in the United States, where ALM’s 2015 “Am Law-LTN Tech Survey” found that 97 percent of law firms reported a higher IT operating budget than that of the previous year.
This high number is partially the result of a growing awareness that IT is critical to law firms, as 80 percent of survey respondents are aware of “the need to respond to the digital age.” Another reason is security – 62 percent of law firms reported suffering a security incident this year, up from 45 percent in the 2014 survey. However, the survey also found that few firms have processes adequate for responses in “the digital age” (28 percent), while only 32 percent feel “very confident” in their ability to recover from IT disasters.
