Work doesn’t just get done in the office: ideas are born and deals are closed from the patios of coffee shops, the benches of train stations and the backseats of taxi cabs. And in the summer, when the office is often the last place many of us want to be, it’s even more essential to get work done faster from anywhere — even on the way to where you’re going.
At Google, we value mobility and want to find the best way for our customers to do their work when they’re on the go. That’s why we invested...
Yesterday, I wrote a post on the importance of teaching problem solving in law school, mainly using ideas of Kathy Vinson. Today, I will show why it is important to teach problem solving in the first year, even if the law school offers extensive advanced skills courses.
Recently, many law schools have enacted advanced skills requirements, and there have been several proposals put forward to require advanced skills courses, one of which was adopted by the California bar. Even if all law schools...
Google Buys Messaging Client Emu, Hopefully to Make Hangouts Better | Droid Life. I seldom load Skype anymore. It is too intrusive, and I don't make long distance calls with it. Google Hangouts is replacing messaging in Google apps, and will be a central place for all VOIP calls in the future. Thus, the acquisition of Emu, in itself a great messaging app, bodes well for Hangouts. I like the idea of getting all communication via Hangouts; but, now that unlimited smartphone calls just about anywhere...
Several attorneys interviewed for this article point out that because of the large number of lawyers in Florida, a figure that has grown from 60,900 in 2000 to 96,511 today, many are working harder for less money. A survey administered last year by the Florida bar confirms this with nearly half of the respondents indicating that the biggest problem facing the legal profession today is the glut of lawyers which has caused nearly 25% of them to "adjust" their fees. Most respondents also said they do not expect...

An unexpected delivery of loose change has a 73-year-old man in California giving his own two cents.
Andres Carrasco filed a lawsuit in 2012 against Adriana’s Insurance Service, Inc. alleging he was physically assaulted by one of the company's employees.
After agreeing to a settlement with Andres Carrasco in June, Adriana’s Insurance decided to deliver the funds in the form of a check -- and buckets and buckets of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies.
The coins amount to more than $21,000,...
